DJ Gear
When you think of disc jockeys, you may instantly conjure up thoughts of an individual working behind a set of intricate equipment, turning knobs, spinning records, and playing entertaining music. True enough, various devices are an important aspect in the type of work DJs do. So if you, for instance, would consider being one yourself, you should clearly understand what these equipment are and how they work. In general, DJ gear consists of a specific line of hardware, each one having its own function. The first component is the set of speakers and amplifiers used by the DJ. This is the tool through which the disc jockey would communicate with the listeners. Any sound which the DJ would produce will be heard through these devices; hence, they play a major role in connecting with the people in a particular event. The second part of the gear includes the players for the sound recordings. Typical examples of these devices are disc players, turntables, and computerized audio players. This is where the DJ would play the sources of the music, using either CDs, mp3s, or vinyl records.
The next part of the equipment disc jockeys use includes the devices for modifying the sounds of the tracks. These are mixers, pitch adjustment hardware, samplers, and drum machines. All of these hardware have one common purpose which is to enhance the songs and provide a different feel to them. Normally, a disc jockey would also make use of headphones while working on these machines in order for him to hear the tracks prior to actually playing them in the speakers.
